Fékk sendar reglur breska þríþrautarsambandsins vegna vinnu sem er í gangi við að semja íslenskar þríþrautarreglur. Mér finnst mjög gaman að lesa þetta yfir og er nokkrum sinnum búin að segja við sjálfa mig 'já... nákvæmlega!!!'. Tók út nokkra kafla sem mér fannst sérstaklega góðir, voilá:
1.4 These rules may not be altered by individual organisers. Local conditions may warrant amendment by a BTF national or regional official; applications for such changes must be submitted in writing to the Rules and Technical Committee (R&T) and, where granted, any such variations must be clearly published to all competitors at least seven days prior to the event and must be covered in all race briefings and safety documents.
NB The terms ‘Olympic’ and ‘Ironman’ MUST NOT be used unless they refer to events organised by the International Olympic Committee or the World Triathlon Corporation respectively.
8 Banned Equipment
8.1 Any equipment that acts as an impediment to hearing or concentration is prohibited from use during an event (including transition). This includes, but is not limited to, mobile telephones (which should be switched off if stored in transition), personal stereos and MP3 players (see Section 30, Penalties).
20 Special Rules
A race organiser, technical delegate or official may approve the addition of special rule/s for a particular race provided that each additional special rule:
a. does not conflict with another competition rule
b. is made available in written form and is announced to the participants before the event
c. and the reasons for its inclusion are advised to the appropriate event sanctioning body for approval prior to the event.
In the case of special rules introduced due to factors that arise on the day, the appropriate event sanctioning body must be notified the day after the event.
21.6 It is the competitor’s responsibility to know and correctly complete the full course of the event.
22.7 No individual support by vehicle, bicycle or on foot is permitted except as provided by the organisers. Competitors may not receive any assistance other than that provided by the race organiser.
26.2 During the event, competitors are individually responsible for the repair of their machines.
Kíkti svo í gamni líka á IRONMAN reglurnar:
22. Each athlete must be individually responsible for repair and maintenance of their own bike. Each athlete should be prepared to handle any possible mechanical malfunction. Assistance from official race personnel is permitted.
25. HEADSETS OR HEADPHONES ARE NOT ALLOWED DURING ANY PORTION OF THE EVENT.
14. The sole responsibility of knowing and following the prescribed cycling course rests with each athlete. No adjustments in times or results shall be made for athletes who fail to follow the proper course for any reason whatsoever.
5. The sole responsibility of knowing and following the prescribed running course rests with each athlete. No adjustments in times or results shall be made for athletes who fail to follow the proper course for any reason whatsoever.
21. No individual support is allowed. Ample aid and food stations will be provided. Friends, family members, coaches, or supporters of any type may NOT bike, drive, or run alongside athlete, may not pass food or other items to athlete and should be warned to stay completely clear of all athletes to avoid the disqualification of a athlete. It is incumbent upon each athlete to immediately reject any attempt to assist, follow, or escort.
Nb. Öll stílbrigði í texta, svo sem bold og hástafir eru svona í reglunum sjálfum og ekki frá mér :)
Mér sýnist að ástæðan fyrir því að ekki má nota orðið 'Ironman' í öðrum keppnum en þeim sem eru í Ironman seríunni, vera sú að það gilda sérstakar reglur í þeim og þá er hægt að bera saman árangur á milli keppna (þrátt fyrir mismunandi brautir). Í Ironman seríunni eru notaðar grunnreglur USAT (Bandarísku þríþrautarreglurnar) með nokkrum sérstökum Ironman viðbótum.
Í öðrum þríþrautum í sömu vegalengd gilda aðrar reglur, t.d. eins og í Challenge Copenhagen og þar af leiðandi geta þeir ekki notað orðið 'Ironman', enda kemur það hvergi fram á þeirra síðu. N.b. nú er ég ekki að gera lítið úr afrekum þeirra sem fóru í Challenge Copenhagen, það er bara þrekvirki að klára svona langa þríþraut og ekkert annað en... mér sýnist ekki vera hægt að kalla sig Ironman, nema að maður ljúki Ironman keppni eða hvað?
Ég get nú samt alveg séð fyrir mér að það sé í fínu lagi að nota heill og hálfur járnkarl fyrir okkar þrautir hérna heima, með okkar íslensku reglum og ekki reglum :). Nú og kannski einhvern daginn verðum við orðin svo pro að við getum orðið hluti af Ironman seríunni, hver veit?
